The evolving garden

From what we can work out the original owners had some sort of market garden which consisted of large cement garden beds right across the back yard. The previous owners had gotten rid of a number of them so that they could make their tennis court and we were left with three of them to slowly crowbar out.
The site of the old tennis court - and the site for the new vegie patch.

Three vegie beds, a berry bed (heirloom raspberries, strawberries and rhubarb), greenhouse and compost bin.
The blue fence that keeps the dog out of the vegies and serves to divide the yard up. The first garden that we put in (apart from the vegies).

The dog checking out the garden and the fence.
The red gate, water gauge and cat.

The gate and fence that was built to replace a wire fence.

The building of the gabion seat.

Building the small courtyard (we have some drainage issues as the land falls about 2 metres from the back of the yard).

The beginning of the new garden in front of the trampoline and to the right of the back garden - mirroring the one beside the vegie garden. Ultimately there will be a boardwalk path to the trampoline.

The red posts mirror the red gate into the vegie garden.
